In the wake of Sentro di bario Sta. Maria's 60th year celebration Curacao Youth Chess Institute organized a youth chess tournament comprising of a U12 and U18 section where a total of just under 30 kids participated. A group of 6 club members of Chess Club Janwe took part in the tournament where for some players it was their 1st tournament in about over a year since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic which caused for postponement of chess activities. After a 5 round battle of 10 minute games the prize winners were announced where with great pleasure CCJ took home various prizes. Kennard Martinez (5pts) and Rishab Anandbahadoer (4pts) won 1st and 2nd place respectively while Johan van Delden (3pts) received the stimul prize for 4th place in the U18. Vaibhav Bedi claimed 1st place in the U12 while fellow players Paras Gopani and Nihal Lulla scored 3 out 5. Congrats to our members on their achievements.
