SAMBIL & Curacao Chess Players Foundation organized a weekend of chess fun at the food court with a blitz tournament on Saturday March 12th and a chess simul on Sunday March 13th. The blitz tournament counted with a total of about 60 players, youth and adults combined while a group of about 15 adult players participated on Sunday in the chess simul played by national chess champion Ursus van Bemmelen and FIDE Master Fabio Mensing. A total of 9 rounds were played in the blitz tournament with 5 minutes per player. Below are the score results for the various groups.
As for the chess simul local player Hans van de Zande managed to draw his game against FIDE Master Fabio Mensing. In all the event was a tremendous success and the management of SAMBIL was very contented assuring this was the 1st of many more chess events to come.
